day one... beginnings

So, I have followed Kim Klassen for many years now.  Signed up for most of her classes, but never participated fully.  My goal is to participate more in her new class, be still 52, a year of finding stillness.  Day one, Kim challenges us to take one minute of stillness a day and breathe... 6-10 slow deep breaths from our diaphragm while looking at something that we find beautiful or inspirational.  Then shoot.
I admit to practicing these deep breathing techniques when I am stressed and they do work, I will be doing these daily now and hope to see a change in a feeling of peace and hopefully to improve my photography.

  1. Oh goody we are in class together, and I LOVE the spoon. BE still. I just got a new video DVD from PBS a yoga one and it is just super. I have never been able to do yoga and this one is so easy she gives chair along with standing and when I can't do the standing I do the chair. She does a lot of the breathing so good and I plan on doing this a lot for this class. :)

    1. Barbara, I would love to get into yoga, I hurt my knee a few years ago, not bad enough for surgery, but bad enough if I work out and it acts up that they want to give me cortisone shots.... no way. Yoga might be the answer!

  5. LOVE the simplicity of your shot -- it just highlights the beauty of the spoon and the color of the blueberries. So nice! I second GailO too, your header is amazing!

  6. Quite lovely. I am reading the cookbook Buvette by Jody Williams and she uses a lot of old silver.
