Backyard birds

We have been watching the dove's building their nest, sitting on their eggs(they leave and keep a close eye on me when I'm taking pictures), and now hatched.  They are almost too big for the nest.  The mom and dad feed them from a nearby branch.  It was great to see each step.

LIBERATE YOUR ART POSTCARD SWAP

This is my third year participating in Kat Sloma's Liberate your art postcard swap.  Another fun year and the talent is off the wall AWESOME!!!  I just checked out the video and there are so many postcards I had not seen roll through facebook or instagram... I would love to trade with each of you!  Here are my postcards together for 2013... I had fun photographing them individually and finding that perfect spot for each.  Thank you all.
Star trails from Pam Bowers.  Painted teacups from the talented Tracey Fletcher King.  A beautiful mess from Teresa Harrington Hazelbaker.  Be positive and believe, lake view from Angela Swan.  "Grace" from Wil Conway of Dover, NH.  And, "Adorned and Alone" By our host, Kat Sloma.   Check out Janice Darby for a full post on all the postcards I have received, bonus cards included.

I made extra postcards for anyone who wanted to continue the swap, it's too fun not too!  These are the first few I have received...
Dogwood blooms from Tammy in Georgia.  Embracing beauty and sharing it with the world through her writing and photography from Sonya. Thank you friend from Maria. Love from Siobhan Wolf.  Beautiful lavender from Leanne in Australia.  And, EXPLORE from Sherry Harmes in Alaska.
I love them all...thank you all for making the swap last a little longer.
These are the last few postcards I have received.  The top postcard is from Pam Parker in Australia with a view from her door... gorgeous!  Pam also sent along an information page about her home town of Wellington and some really awesome stamps, what a treasure!
The Eiffel Tower comes from Deanie, she will be making a return visit in September, can I go with you?  I would love to see this in person.  Thanks Deanie, I will look at it and dream...!
The last postcard is from Maria, she sent a second, unexpected, sweet surprise... "find the beautiful", I do every time I look at her work.  I have been a follower and admirer of her work since Picture Summer 2010.  Thanks Maria, this will find a special place in my home.
Thank you all for the beautiful postcards.  Thank you Kat for hosting a third year, what an awesome event!  Thank you to her helpers, I'm sure your hard work was very much appreciated.  Looking forward to the next LIBERATE YOUR ART swap event.

#12

Comes to me from Sherry Harmes from the remote Island of Amook, off Kodiak Island in Alaska.  EXPLORE  is her word for the year and she is on an adventure as I type.  She is driving through the lower 48 states to visit the ones she has not yet been to.  How fun!  Wish I was on that adventure too.  Thanks Sherry for trading, I love your postcard and hope you are having a blast.

#11

This postcard comes from Leanne Barnett all the way from Australia to Santa Maria, California.  Thank you Leanne for trading, I love it!  You can check out her work at:   www.knowwheretostand.blogspot.com

Postcard #9

From Maria Chiesa In New York.  I have been a follower and admirer of Maria's work since our first class together from Big Picture Classes, Picture Summer with Tracey Clark.  I am so happy to have a piece of art from you "Echie"... thanks for swapping!

Postcard #8

From Sonya in California.  On the front a quote from Michelangelo, "A beautiful thing never gives so much pain as to never hear or see it."  On the back Sonya talks about beauty being everywhere but people are often immune to it... her journey, is to embrace that beauty and share it through her writing and photography.  Check out her work and story at:  www.sonyaversluys.com

My 2013 postcard

This is my postcard I sent out for Kat Sloma's Liberate your art swap event.  A field of poppies, spring flowers and bees.  I added a textured canvas to give it a painterly feel.
Wishing you PEACE and HAPPINESS... until next year.  Janice

Looking back- postcards from the past

Postcards from       year one(2011) and                                                    year two(2012)

Postcard #6

From Kat Sloma, she has held the "Liberate your art" postcard swap event for the third year and I have participated in each years swap thus far.  I love getting the "happy mail" in my mailbox and it's sad to have this event come to an end... so a few of us are continuing to trade our art with the extra postcards we have, as of right now I have sent out 8 extras and will post them as they come in.
Thanks Kat for all your hard work putting this event together and all the wonderful artists who join in... looking forward to next year!
